Biryani ( biriani or beriani ) is a South Asian rice dish made with spices, basmati rice and meat/vegetables . The name is derived from the Persian word beryā(n) which means "fried" or "roasted".

Thankyou, Cholena. I miss the rice biryani I used to buy in the freezer at Trader Joes. Buffalo, ny does not have TJ's, but I do have the Indian Bazaar grocery with many many spice blends in pkgs, as well as spices sold alone. Plus fresh veggies like "large squash" and curry leaves, and lots more! lots of 555555555 s to you for your many biryani choices shared to us! thank you.
