Balinese Beef Satay With Sweet Soy Sauce Recipe
Lovely Indonesian yumminess. I collected this recipe from an Indonesian college friend who I have lost touch with.

Ingredients
  • for the marinade:
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 large onion, cut into chunks
  • 2 hot red chili peppers, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • Skewers
  • 3 lbs good beef steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • bamboo skewers (soaked for at least 20 minutes)
  • Sauce
  • 2/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Directions
  1. Combine all marinade ingredients and puree in blender or food processor.
  2. Marinate beef in this mixture for at least 2 hours.
  3. Preheat grill
  4. Skewer beef and broil on grill, turning frequently for 5-7 minutes or bake on a foil lined baking sheet in preheated 325°F oven.
  5. Mix together sauce ingredients, and serve skewers with dipping sauce and rice.

This sounds excellent. I am going to try the oven version of this (it is mid-winter here in Saskatchewan and outdoor grilling is not at the top of my "fun to do" list when it is -20).
