Ingredients
  • 5 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 1/2 cups milk (whole, soy or 2%)
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

Directions
  1. Melt butter over medium-low heat.
  2. Whisk in flour to make a roux.
  3. Cook and stir 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually add milk into roux.
  5. Stir constantly to prevent sticking and cook until thick, about 10 minutes.
  6. When thick, add seasonings.
