Ingredients
  • (for 2 lb. breadmaker)
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar; 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla;
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powde;
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Topping
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar; 1/4 cup sugar; 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; 1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Directions
  1. 1. Add butter, sugar, eggs, sour cream and vanilla to baking pan, followed by dry ingredients. Select CAKE cycle and press START. (If you don't have a "cake" cycle, use the "sweet" or "sweet bread" cycle.)
  2. 2. Prepare topping and set aside.
  3. 3. When mixing (kneading cycle) is complete (approximately 22 minutes), sprinkle 1/2 cup of topping on top of batter and continue baking.
  4. 4. During the last hour of baking time, again, sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup of topping on batter (cake will have risen by this time). Bake until complete. Cool slightly before removing.
  5. " The delightful aroma that will permeate your home while you are baking this delicious coffee cake is an added bonus! "

I have never tried cake in my breadmaker, but why not? Love coffeecake and this sounds really good. Thankyou!

I've not made a cake in my breadmaker either and am intriqued to try this recipe out. I love cinnamon so this grabbed my attention. This recipe's bookbarked and one Sunday morning I'll surprise my family with it.
Thanks for such a neat recipe.

Always looking for a great bread machine recipe. Thanks for this one!

I have never made a cake in a breadmaker, but it really sounds delicous with such ingredients. Thanks for sharing with us.

I had never made a cake in a breadmaker either! This is why I posted the recipe. It really came out great and I thought that some of the folks in here would like to try it. Thanks for your comments! Good luck with the recipe!

Anything with a whole cup of butter and a cup of sour cream in it has to be incredible. Annieee, does this mean we finally get to take the breadmaker we got as a wedding present down from the attic and use it? I gotta try this recipe!

I've never baked a cake in my Breadmaker either so I'm going to try this tonight. Great 5 forks recipe Thanks

Well, I made it. Mmmmm. For anyone who should check this recipe out, DON'T PASS IT BY. This cake is incredible. The taste is unbelievable, I can't stop sampling it. When I started assembling my ingredients I discovered I had no pecans but I did have slivered almonds. I chopped those up & used them instead for the topping. I had to use the Quick Bread setting for my type of machine. Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. If I could give you a 10 instead of the 5 I certainly would.

Where is the coffee in the ingredients? Am I going mad?

Hi Peace. A "coffeecake" is a old American term from the late 1800's that refers to a cake or bread that is made to be eaten with a cup of coffee or tea. Its a breakfast cake unlike a cake that is made for desserts only. Coffeecakes are more like a sweet bread. You can have some coffeecake for dessert as well as its a sweet cake. There is no coffee as an ingredient. Just like the old-fashioned "tea cakes" have no tea as an ingredient in them.
