Ingredients
  • Sauce:
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen Blueberries
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup Sugar depending on tartness of the berry
  • 1/3 cup Water
  • Dash Cinnamon
  • Dumplings:
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tbsp Butter (cold)
  • 1/2 tbsp Shortening (cold)
  • 1/3 - 1/2 cup milk
  • French Vanilla (or vanilla) Ice Cream or Whipped cream (with a dash of vanilla added)

Directions
  1. Sauce:
  2. Wash and drain berries. Combine with sugar and water and cinnamon. Bring to a boil in large saucepan.
  3. Reduce heat simmer until berries are soft and sauce starts to thicken about 5 minutes.
  4. Dumplings:
  5. Whisk together Baking Powder, Sugar, Salt and flour.
  6. Cut in butter and shortening with pastry blender to coarse crumb stage.
  7. Stir in enough milk to make a soft dough.
  8. Drop by spoonfuls on top of the hot sauce.
  9. Immediately Put the lid on your saucepan and cook over medium heat. IMPORTANT NO PEEKING for 18minutes DO NOT REMOVE LID UNTIL TIME IS UP.
  10. Serve warm with French vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

I haven't ever heard of something like this--how do you know it is done?


Its like making dumplings. They'll be done after the 18 min. Make sure your sauce is very hot
