Blueberry Grunt

- Sauce: shopping list
- 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries shopping list
- 1/4 - 1/2 cup sugar depending on tartness of the berry shopping list
- 1/3 cup water shopping list
- Dash cinnamon shopping list
- Dumplings: shopping list
- 1 cup flour shopping list
- 2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 tbsp butter (cold) shopping list
- 1/2 tbsp shortening (cold) shopping list
- 1/3 - 1/2 cup milk shopping list
- French vanilla (or vanilla) ice cream or whipped cream (with a dash of vanilla added) shopping list
How to make it
- Sauce:
- Wash and drain berries. Combine with sugar and water and cinnamon. Bring to a boil in large saucepan.
- Reduce heat simmer until berries are soft and sauce starts to thicken about 5 minutes.
- Dumplings:
- Whisk together Baking Powder, Sugar, Salt and flour.
- Cut in butter and shortening with pastry blender to coarse crumb stage.
- Stir in enough milk to make a soft dough.
- Drop by spoonfuls on top of the hot sauce.
- Immediately Put the lid on your saucepan and cook over medium heat. IMPORTANT NO PEEKING for 18minutes DO NOT REMOVE LID UNTIL TIME IS UP.
- Serve warm with French vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
