Meal in a Stick

From our neigbbors to the North, far north, Betty in Ontario. Fun food, good flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. lean ground beef or chuck shopping list
- 1 small can of Carnation milk shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp of salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp of pepper shopping list
- 1 tbsp. of mustard shopping list
- 1 small onion, finely chopped shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 2 cups of grated cheddar cheese shopping list
- 1/2 cup of bread crumbs shopping list
- 1 large french baguette shopping list
How to make it
- Mix all ingredients together.
- Cut baguette in half lengthwise; hollow out centre, leaving outer edge.
- Butter top edge so it won't dry out.
- Fill each half of the bread with meat mixture.
- Wrap each half in foil, leaving the top open and put on a cookie sheet.
- Bake in 350 degree oven for 50 to 60 minutes.
- Five minutes before baking time is finished, put some slices of favorite cheese on top and let them melt (we use provolone or muenster for the melting ooze factor).
- Best served with a bit of warmed marinara sauce (favorite kind of jarred sauce) and a green salad.
