Picadinho A Brasiliera Recipe

Picadinho A Brasiliera Recipe
This is an authentic Brazilian ground beef and vegetable recipe, which I tweaked to my families liking. Who says beef has to be boring! Serve over hot white rice. "Famous words of a lady called Woman Whisking"

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 3 stalks celery, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 (15.5 oz.) can diced tomatoes, in tomato sauce
  • 1 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups red wine
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • Salt , to taste

Directions
  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in the onions and garlic, and cook until the onions have caramelized to a deep golden brown, 15-20 minutes. Stir frequently while the onions cook. Meanwhile, place the ground beef, celery, bell pepper, eggs, tomatoes, and parsley in a mixing bowl; mix until thoroughly combined.
  2. Add the meat mixture into the caramelized onions, and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook and stir until the beef is crumbly and no longer pink, about 10 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover and simmer 15 minutes. Stir in the red wine, pepper flakes and salt. Continue simmering, covered, until the liquid is reduced, about 1 hour. Serve over hot cooked rice. OMG, this has made me hungry!

This sounds interesting, had to print it off.

I have saved it and have to try it!

Yum, this one is bookmarked for use in the near future. Greatness. You have my 5.

Sounds so delicious - thanks so much! :) Vickie

Well, it's a very interesting recipe and several of my friends have enjoyed it...and one even has it published on another recipe site. If this is her, good to see you here, but since I'm fairly certain it isn't, I'd hope you'd at least have changed the "blurb" about the recipe before using her words, at least, and, even better, perhaps mentioning where you got it from. I hope anyone who tries it enjoys it...it seems to be a keeper. :)

Thank you for adding the edit to the description...I'm sure she'll appreciate the acknowledgment for her words she's a fine, fun, lady. Enjoy the recipe! :)

This sounds so good...but I think I might try it with chicken instead....And I found out that it won't mess up the name of the recipe. "Picadinho" is the diminutive of picado and literally means "cut into very small pieces," the equivalent to dicing.

This sounds like something I've been making for ages, I just didn't realize it was something that the Brazilians also like. It's easy and delicious to boot. I will have to print this off for the kids, as they have been asking how it's done. This should give them and idea of how I do mine.
Thanks for reminding me of something really good. I'll have to make it again soon.
FYI...I also have done something similar with a good, thick roast and Hubby loves it and so do I.
