HALF MOONS

- 625 ml water {2 1/2 cups} shopping list
- 625 ml cake flour {2 1/2 cups} shopping list
- 60 grams butter shopping list
- pinch salt shopping list
- spicy/plain breadcrumbs shopping list
- beaten eggs / milk for dipping shopping list
- fillings of choice:- once the filling is cooked i usually add for every 500g of filling 1TBS cornflour and 1/4 cup milk to make it a bit saucy. shopping list
- i also add 1/4 grated green pepper 1/4 grated red pepper 1/4 grated yellow pepper for the taste as well as colour shopping list
How to make it
- place water and butter in a saucepan,onceit starts to boil,add theflour and the salt,stir until mixture comes together into a ball
- remove from heat
- P.S.USE THE SAME CUP FOR MEASURING THE WATER AND CAKE FLOUR
- roll out hot pastry
- cut out rounds and put in filling of choice
- fold over with filling inside to form half moon ,use a fork to seal edges
- dip the half moons in milk / beaten eggs
- roll in breadcrumbs
- to my breadcrumbs i usually add some sesame seeds / dried parsley....for variations
- these freeze very well ....when needed ,i just place them in deep hot cooking oil...........yummy..........
