Applesauce French toast with Praline Syrup

- 12 slices of a good quality bread(I prefer Nature's Own butter bread or a good potato bread) shopping list
- 4 eggs shopping list
- 2 cups half and half or milk shopping list
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon shopping list
- 1 cup applesauce shopping list
- 1/4 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla or maple flavoring shopping list
- butter or margarine shopping list
- whipped cream shopping list
- additional chopped pecans for topping shopping list
- Syrup: shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 cup dark brown sugar shopping list
- 1 stick butter shopping list
- 1/4 cup half and half shopping list
How to make it
- Whisk eggs, sugar, and half and half together in large bowl.
- Stir in applesauce, pecans, vanilla, and 1/2 cup pecans.
- Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of butter or margarine.
- Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side.
- Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time.
- Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown.
- Turn and brown the other side.
- Place on individual (warmed)plates or on serving platter.
- Top with syrup, whipped cream and extra pecans.
- If you want a crunchy topping: Sprinkle top of toast with a little dark brown sugar and place under broiler for a minute or two or until sugar cooks then top with syrup and whipped cream,
- Syrup:
- In heavy saucepan, melt butter.
- Stir in sugars and cook over med. low heat, stirring often.
- Slowly stir in half and half and continue to cook 2 to 3 minutes.

Mmm-mm-mmmm! Wow! That does sound awfully tasty! Love, love, love french toast, but you add in the cinnamon, the applesauce and the pralines...girl, its gonna be a party in my mouth! Thanks for sharing! ~Laura ;D
