Just Good Ole Country Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 425.
  • Blend butter into flour with a pastry blender or fork.
  • Stir in just enough buttermilk to form a soft dough.
  • Knead and handle as little as possible.
  • Roll out into floured board and cut into 2 inch rounds.
  • Bake for 10-13 minutes.

    Buttermilk Biscuits are a breakfast favorite in my family. I like the ease of using the self rising flour when cooking early in the morning.

    My grandmother had 10 children. She made as many
    as 4 DOZEN biscuits..(most of the time, and sometimes more with guest) TWICE a day..Her biscuits were perfect EVERY time and she never cut them out, she rolled them in her hands, and EVERY one was the exact same shape and size..

    Hers were beautiful..mine are quite good, but NOT
    pretty!! :-)
    The only difference in recipe was ..she used plain
    flour, baking powder, and salt.

    I love buttermilk biscuits! My mom makes them all the time. But I'm so intimidated by them. Tried once when I was 18 and they came out like brickets instead. lol- Never tried again. Maybe I will . . .

    Never made Biscuits before.. seldom ate them.. but do love them. I MUST try this.. it looks very easy! And I dooooo love biscuits..

    (looking forward to the Cat Head ones.. heard about them on Food Network)

    That's simple enough - and I just bought some self-rising flour...will have to try these (we love biscuits - some butter and fresh jam...yum!) - thanks, lanac!

    Mo.. I started to put on my 'cat head biscuits'!
    before long I do it just for you..Guess what I
    just created a FABULOUS dessert..it is cooling now. you know I BELIEVE in NOT wasting..this was
    out of things in the pantry and frig..you gonna get One hint..it starts with homemade custard...:)
