Ingredients

How to make it

  • In a large skillet, brown the ground turkey or ground beef. Drain off the fat and set meat aside.
  • In the same skillet, melt the butter and sautee the rice and pasta. When pasta is golden, add the water, rice mix seasoning packet, and taco seasoning mix. Bring to a boil.
  • Return the meat to the skillet with the rice mixture. Stir well.
  • Cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until rice is tender.
  • Serve on hamburger buns.

I'm glad you liked them! My daughter and I invented them one night when she wanted sloppy joes and I wanted Mexican, so we compromised LOL!

I took these as part of the recipe swap game in the refugees group. I made them for dinner. We all liked them alot. I made my own taco seasoning since i dont use the packages and I used Old Elpaso mexican rice. I also served them on club rolls. This was a great idea keri! Thanks!

It's an interesting twist for sloppy joes (one of my favourite foods), and I'm a big fan of mexican food, and I love rice-a-roni! Excellent recipe Laurie and daughter!

Hey darlin'! :) Made these tonight for the Recipe Swap. You know the packaged stuff isn't my usual fare, so it was a bit out of the ordinary for me. :) I couldn't find a rice AND pasta package, so I just used a Mexican rice one. And, since you said we could use our own taco seasoning, I did...hehehe....and, I used ground venison cus I didn't think that would change the results enough to not be able to review it! Everyone enjoyed them, and the kids thought they tasted like a taco on a bun. :) I added sliced Muenster or PepperJack, and they were very good. And SO easy! :) I'm glad I made them, and hope the pic is okay. :)
