How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • Grease, then line with wax paper a loaf pan.
  • In sifter place flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • In a large bowl place nuts, dates and cherries.
  • Sift the ingredients these and then mix with your hands until nuts and fruits are well coated.
  • Beat eggs until foamy.
  • Add vanilla to eggs and stir into nut mixture and mix well.
  • Spread in pan evenly.
  • Bake for 1 hr. and 45 minutes. Cool in pan on rack for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from pan and peel off paper.
  • Cool on rack and wrap in foil and store in refrigeragtor.
  • Keeps 5 or 6 weeks.
  • note: fruits and nuts are whole, not chopped; sliced, this bread is beautiful with large cross-sections.
