When I lived in Rochester and Buffalo, I used to frequent the Anchor Bar. This is where I was taught how to make this phenomenon of a recipe that has taken over the world.

Ingredients
  • Everyone’s favorite party food - great for anytime or party time.
  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook Time: 12 minutes
  • Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 pounds chicken wings, split and tips discarded
  • 1 cup FRANK’S® REDHOT® Original Sauce (or more to taste)
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted
  • Blue cheese salad dressing (optional)
  • Celery sticks (optional)
  • Beer (not optional) to drink

Directions
  1. Cooking Directions:
  2. 1. Deep fry* wings at 400°F (HIGH) for 12 minutes or until cooked and crispy; drain.
  3. 2. In large bowl, combine FRANK’S® REDHOT® Original and butter. Toss wings in sauce to coat completely. If desired, serve with blue cheese dressing and celery sticks.
  4. Makes 24 to 30 individual pieces.
  5. When I am catering: I have to bake the wings. Preheat oven to 450*
  6. Put wings on a large sheet pan. Bake for 45 minutes or until very crisp. Toss in the Franks butter combo
  7. **I always heat the sauce before tossing the wings-the sauce adheres better.

Ah yes a great favorite from that area... and I have eaten many!!! Lived in the Syracuse area..

Hey sassy!

You did it! I believe this is the first time I have ever seen the actual recipe posted. Not that I have really looked though. The story behind my comment my dear, is when I was doing my apprenticeship, the chef had this very same recipe -- the original from Anchor. Some 17 years later, you have posted the same recipe. Talk about taking me back in time :-)

Thank you for the walk! By the way -- I love that you put in the instructions for baking them as opposed to frying them!

As I always say: you rock girl!
Ray

Love 'em - thanks so much!

Love chicken wings. Unfortunately we didn't have time to stop at the Anchor bar when we went thru Buffalo last month. It was getting to be late in the afternoon and we were headed for my hometown of Angola.

PERFECT!! No, I agree....beer is not an option, it's part of the meal, right!!? Thx for sharing! Can't wait to try them. Pamela
