Fresh Strawberry Jam Recipe
This is Ina Garten's recipe and it's absolutely wonderful, fresh, lemony and sweet!

Ingredients
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced
  • 1 1/2 pints fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

Directions
  1. Combine sugar, juice and zest in small saucepan.
  2. Simmer over very low heat for 10 minutes, or until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add strawberries and continue to simmer over very low heat for 20 minutes, until strawberries release juices and mixture boils slowly.
  4. Cook until a very small amount gels on a cold plate. (put a small plate in freezer during prep time, put small amount on plate, if it starts to get and not run, it's ready)
  5. Pour into 2 pint jars and seal or keep refrigerated.
  6. **Great on toast, ice cream or french toast!

Ohhh yum :) I would think one could do the same with raspberrys ;)


I'm actually not sure you could use raspberries to make that jam....strawberries have a natural pectin (in the white part), that's why you don't have to add it. But it would make delicious raspberry preserves! :-)


What an easy recipe. I love Ina Garten. This would go great with peanut butter....being that I am such a nut for pb!!


I like that show on Food Network; however for the longest time I thought the show was "in a garden". I was wondering when they were going to show her garden or was the food she was cooking from her garden. I won't convey how long it took before I realized that, that was her name. Thanks for the post. It gets my 5!
