Prize winning Pie Pastry crust

- 4 cups flour shopping list
- 1 TBSP. sugar shopping list
- 2 teasp. salt shopping list
- 1 3/4 cups vegetable shortening ( M-i-L says she used butter flavored Crisco ) shopping list
- 2 - 3 TBSP. ice water shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 1 TBSP. apple cider vinegar shopping list
How to make it
- in large bowl... combine flour, sugar and salt
- with pastry blender or 2 knives... cut in shortening until mixture resembles course crumbs
- in small bowl..... whisk water, egg, and vinegar
- sprinkle 1 TBSP. of water mixture at a time over flour mixture
- toss flour with fork and adding more water as needed until pastry holds together
- divide into 4 balls.. wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour
- take out 1 ball and roll out dough to fit a 9-inch pie plate
- fill with your favorite filling
- roll out a second if needed..
- wrap and freeze the unused pastry balls.. or you can roll out and freeze in a pie plate...
