Ingredients
  • 5 eggs
  • 250 grams powdered sugar
  • 250 grams flour - all purpose it is called, not the rising kind
  • 150 ml vegetable oil
  • 150 ml hot water
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond
  • 1-1/2 big tablespoons cocoa powder
  • Butter or shortening to grease pan

Directions
  1. Split egg whites from yolks and sit the whites to the side
  2. Heat oven to 350 degrees
  3. Mix yolks with sugar then add slowly oil, then hot water
  4. Mix in flour and baking powder
  5. Beat with an electric mixer on high speed egg whites alone in a different bowl until they double about 3 to 4 times
  6. Add these egg whites to batter and mix by hand
  7. Add vanilla or almond
  8. Pour half into greased round angel cake pan or any cake pan with high sides
  9. Mix the cocoa into the remaining half and pour on top of the first layer in the pan but do not mix together
  10. Bake for 45 minutes
  11. Check with toothpick
  12. Sprinkle cooled cake with powdered sugar
  13. You can also add raisins or nuts to the mix or pour chocolate glaze on top of the finished cake
