Carne Asado

- 1 lb beef stew meat shopping list
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped shopping list
- 1 onion, grated shopping list
- 1 t cumin, ground shopping list
- 1 t black pepper, ground shopping list
- 2 small cans tomato sauce (or 1 large) shopping list
- 1 T granule style beef bouillon, or to taste shopping list
- 1 T flour shopping list
How to make it
- Sort through stew meat trimming excess fat, gristle.
- Cut into 1" pieces.
- In medium size, heavy bottom pot, place enough bacon
- drippings or melted lard to cover bottom.
- Place stew meat, garlic and onion in pot .
- Saute meat until it is lightly browned.
- Add water to cover.
- Add beef bouillon, cumin, pepper and tomato sauce.
- Cover, and simmer on low heat until meat is tender.
- Toward end of cooking time (about. 1 hr.) add flour to thicken and continue simmering and stir from time to time, for an additional 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Note:
- Salsa Cruda, Pico de Gallo are good garnishes. Serve with coarsely chopped lettuce and tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese.
