This started, years ago, as a Sunmaid Raisin recipe. I doubled it, tweaked and arrived at this. It makes 32 large, or 64 bite-sized pieces.

Ingredients
  • 4 cups rolled oats
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1-1/2 cups melted butter
  • 2 cups raisins
  • 1/2 cup orange marmalade
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (optional)
  • Cinnamon icing:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup milk

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease a 9 X 13 baking pan.
  2. Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and soda. Mix well.
  3. Stir in butter until evenly mixed.
  4. Remove two cups (lightly packed) and set aside.
  5. Pat remaining mixture into pan. (Optional: mix two cups of chocolate chips into mixture before patting into pan – highly recommended.)
  6. Combine raisins and marmalade.
  7. Toss raisins with reserved oat mixture.
  8. Sprinkle over the layer in the pan and pat down lightly.
  9. Bake 35 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  10. While warm, cut into bars in the pan.
  11. Cool completely in the refrigerator.
  12. With a whisk, mix powdered sugar, cinnamon and milk to make a thin icing.
  13. Remove from pan and put on wire cooling rack, spaced slightly apart. Place rack over waxed paper.
  14. Drizzle with icing and let icing set.
  15. Store in airtight container in the refrigerator.
