How to make it

  • 3 days before serving make the fig jam and refrigerate, then bring to room temperature just before serving on toast.
  • Combine first 7 ingredients in a small saucepan, bring to a boil.
  • Cover and reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes until figs are tender.
  • Uncover and cook 5 minutes until mixture thickens.
  • Remove from heat and cool completely, refrigerate.
  • The Day of serving.
  • Preheat oven to 350*F
  • Toast the bread until light brown on both sides.
  • Preheat oven to broil.
  • Top each bread slice with 1-1/2 tsp. of fig mixture and 1-1/2 tsp. goat cheese.
  • Arrange brushchetta on a baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle evenly with chopped walnuts.
  • Broil 2 minutes until nuts begin to turn brown.
  • Serve warm.
