How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Grease 18 standard-size muffin-pan cups or line with paper liners sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In large mixing bowl, stir together flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking soda.
  • In small mixing bowl, stir together buttermilk, melted butter, molasses, and eggs.
  • Make a "well" in the center of the flour mixture bowl.
  • Add buttermilk mixture all at once to the well, tossing with a fork until dry ingredients are just moistened.
  • (Do not over-mix.)
  • Spoon batter into prepared muffin pans, filling each cup three-quarters full.
  • Bake muffins until tops are firm and golden, approximately 15 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly while making honey-glaze topping.
  • Beat together brown sugar, granulated sugar, and butter with electric mixer until light and fluffy in medium mixing bowl.
  • Beat in honey and water.
  • Spread topping evenly over warm muffins.
