Five Cheese Ziti Recipe

Five Cheese Ziti Recipe
My sister and I developed this dish in an attempt to clone one of our favorite dishes from an Italian restaurant. It's pretty easy and it would probably also be good with chicken added in.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound dry ziti pasta
  • 3 cups store bought marinara sauce (or you can make your own tomato sauce if you'd rather... it's good either way)
  • 3 cups store bought alfredo sauce (can also use homemade)
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 4 cups italian blend shredded cheese
  • 1 cup italian breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions
  1. Begin boiling the pasta in a large pot as per directions on the pasta box
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  3. For the sauce: Combine the marinara sauce, alfredo sauce, the ricotta cheese, and 1/2 cup of the cheese blend in a large bowl
  4. For the topping: Combine 3 cups of the shredded cheese blend, the italian breadcrumbs, the chopped garlic, and the vegetable oil in a medium bowl.
  5. While the pasta is still boiling, spray a 9 x 12 inch backing dish with baking spray and then coat the bottom of the dish with 1/4 cup of the sauce.
  6. When pasta has finished boiling, drain and pour into the large mixing bowl with the remaining sauce
  7. Stir until pasta is coated, and then pour into the baking dish.
  8. Evenly distribute 1/2 cup of the cheese blend over the top of the pasta
  9. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the pasta
  10. Bake until top is lightly browned and cheese is bubbling, approx. 25-35 minutes.
