How to make it

  • In a cast iron skillet, (if you have one, if not a saute or fry pan), over medium heat, cook the bacon until fairly crisp.
  • Remove the bacon. Leave the drippings in the pan and reduce the heat to medium low.
  • Add the mushrooms stirring well until all of the drippings are absorbed.
  • Add the butter, shallots and garlic. Continue to cook until the shallots are translucent and the mushrooms are tender. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in the Texas Pete, coating the mushrooms evenly.
  • Stir back in the bacon.
  • Salt and Pepper to taste.
  • Serve as a side, an appetizer or over the top of a steak. You can't go wrong any way you go.
