Wisconsin Apple Cake

- Pastry Crust shopping list
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 2 tablespoons sugar shopping list
- 2/3 cup butter, softened a little shopping list
- 1 jumbo egg shopping list
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ shopping list
- 6-8 good size green apples shopping list
- 1/4 cup butter, softened shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 3 tablespoons flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (I use 1 tsp, I like cinnamon) shopping list
How to make it
- Sift first three ingredients into a bowl.
- Cut in the 2/3 cup butter until mixture resembles corn meal.
- Beat egg, add to flour mixture, mixing lightly.
- Press dough in a 9 x 13 inch pan with your fingers, bringing up the sides about an inch.
- Core and peel apples.
- Cut into slices.
- Arrange close together in rows on the pastry dough.
- Cut the 1/4 cup butter into the remaining sugar, flour & cinnamon until crumbly.
- Sprinkle the apples with the sugar topping.
- Bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes.
- This cake can be served warm or cold.
- I love it warm and with Edy's Vanilla Bean ice cream (but that's just me).
