My sister-in-law and I cooked over a dozen recipes until we came up with this one and then altered it; thanks to my 5 yr. old niece, "The Imp".

Ingredients
  • 8 ozs. elbow macaroni, cooked
  • 2 cups cream-style cottage cheese
  • 2 cups Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • 12 ozs. sour cream
  • 3/4 cup softened but not melted vanilla ice cream (or 1/2 c. milk)
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • a couple of grinds of pepper
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
  • Topping:
  • Bread Crumbs
  • Butter Pats (1/4 to 1/2 cup)
  • Paprika

Directions
  1. Prepare pasta as directed, drain
  2. Preheat oven to 350
  3. Spray 9 x 13 inch cake dish or 11 x 14 for more topping
  4. Combine cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, parmesan, cheese, sour cream, ice cream and salt and pepper
  5. Fold in macaroni
  6. Spoon into baking dish
  7. Sprinkle bread crumbs all over top
  8. Place Butter pats around on top - we like it crusty so I use almost a 1/2 cup of butter
  9. Sprinkle with paprika
  10. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes
