Greek Spiced Baked Shrimp Recipe
These saucy shrimp spiked with cinnamon,allspice and feta will quickly disappear. Have plenty of bread on hand to sop up the liquid.. Also good with steamed rice and a salad.

  • 1 med. onion,chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves,finely chopped
  • 3Tbs extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2tsp hot red-pepper flakes
  • 1/2tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4tsp ground allspice
  • 1(28oz) can whole tomatoes in juice,drained,reserving juice and chopped
  • pinch of sugar
  • 11/4lb. peeled and deveined shrimp(large)
  • 2 Tbs chopped dill
  • 1/4lb feta,crumbled(2/3c)

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375. with rack in middle.
  2. Cook onion and garlic in oil with 1/4tsp salt in a 4qt. heavy saucepan over med heat till softened,about 5 mins. Stir in spices and cook,stirring 30 seconds. Add chopped tomatoes with juice and sugar and simmer,uncovered,stirring occasionally,until slightly thickened,about 20 mins Remove from heat.
  3. Season shrimp with 1/8tsp saltthen stir into tomato sauce. Tramsfer to a 2qt. shallow baking dish and top with feta.
  4. Bake till just cooked through,18 to 20 mins. Serve sprinkled with dill.
