CHEDDAR CHEESE WAFFLES WITH SAVORY SYRUP
This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Cabrera Estate in Malakoff, Texas in 1986.

Buttermilk it up!
Swap in buttermilk for the skim milk.
Up the baking soda to 1 1/2 teaspoons and omit the baking powder.

Waffles are very tasty, they get a beautiful golden color, and have the perfect crunch. I'd definitely use this for a dinner.
The syrup's a bit off. Maybe it's just too sweet, next time I'll have to make my own so I can tone it down.
Heating the oven to hold them is unnecessary (unless you're tripling, or more, the recipe). With my two irons I was done cooking in less then ten minutes.
