Ingredients
  • 12 medium sized onions, I prefer Vidalia
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt

Directions
  1. Peel onions, trimming off both ends sparingly.
  2. Place in a 13x9x2 pan. This will be a snug fit.
  3. Top each onion with a bit of butter.
  4. Mix sugar and salt together.
  5. Sprinkle all around the onions.
  6. Cover tightly with tin foil.
  7. DO NOT ADD WATER
  8. Bake in a 200 degree oven for about 2 hours.
  9. Onions wil be golden brown and they keep their shape.

If you spear the onions with a skewer in half a dozen places each and push a clove into each skewer hole before baking these are even better!
