How to make it

  • Whisk together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder in a bowl. Add cranberries and mix so they are evenly distributed. Add margarine in small cubes and mix with fingers or pastry blender until evenly blended.
  • Whisk together eggs and milk in a small bowl. Gradually stir into the flour mixture until dough forms. Work dough with hands if necessary, but do not overwork.
  • Drop scant ½ cup amounts of dough on ungreased baking sheets.
  • For egg wash, beat together egg, milk and orange extract in small bowl. Lightly brush each scone with wash.
  • Bake for 20-30 minutes or until lightly golden. Makes 8-10 scones.

Made the cranberry orabge scones for weekend company. Just wanted to share that they were a big hit. Everyone I make them for or take as a treat loves the combination with the orange flavoring. Thanks again for sharing and happy cooking/baking to you.Have a good week!

This is one of my favorite scone flavor combinations! I love Barefoot Contessa's version of this recipe, but love the idea of adding orange extract for even more flavor! Yum!
