How to make it

  • After skinning and cleaning the snake, section into 4 inch pieces.
  • Coat with cornmeal and flour
  • Deep fry as you would fish
  • Tip: add salt, pepper, garlic or Cajun spices to your taste

    I like to marinade with soy, worchesteshire and a dash of hot sauce and then grill on skewers. As others said, best if not overcooked and slightly chewy texture is to be expected. Treat it like cooking or grilling scallops. Never tried deep frying but I will now! :)

    Young rattle snake works best, just a couple of rattles. Of course you may need more than one if you have guests.

    We went one year to Freer to the Rattlesnake Round up.... I tried it... it taste like CHICKEN... LOL... Worth a 5 to me ...

    sometimes a bit chewy, but not supposed to be tough. sounds like it might have been overcooked. Either that or the grand daddy of the rattlesnakes....*grin*
