Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce Recipe
An easy version of vodka cream sauce that is strong on flavor and a simply great color. I jar this sauce for a friend who says that he can't live without it!

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 28 ounces chopped plum tomatoes (I sometimes use tomato puree)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Directions
  1. Saute onion in oil and butter over medium heat.
  2. Add tomatoes.
  3. Cook, stirring often for 25 minutes.
  4. Add cream, vodka and red pepper flakes.
  5. Simmer until sauce gets to proper consistency, about 2 minutes.

You guys! Thanks for the 5s, elga, julia and binky. Not being fond of strong tomato taste in general, the addition of the cream makes this sauce smoother and creamier (duh!) than regular sauce. I will send you TWO jars, scamp!
