Ingredients
  • 2 cups self-rising flour, plus more for dusting
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, and cream until the dough forms a ball.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a surface dusted with additional flour.
  4. Fold the dough in 1/2 and knead 5 to 7 times, adding just enough flour to keep dough from sticking to your hands.
  5. Gently roll out dough to 1/2-inch thickness.
  6. Using a 3-inch biscuit cutter coated with flour, cut dough into biscuits.
  7. Place on baking sheet coated with cooking spray, leaving at least 1-inch between each biscuit.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

I can't wait to try these biscuits. My sister uses mayonaisse in place of the whipping cream.Her's is a totally different recipe than yours. I'll have to get it to share with you. I imagine these are light and airy!!

Hmmmm... ham and biscuits. Sounds like a winner to me. I will try it. Actually my wife is the baker in our household, I'll have her try them.


These were wonderful, very soft, and restaurant-quality. However, I can't help wonder if some melted butter brushed on the top of the biscuits would have made them even better.


I finally made these and I love them and since I am a mutt mix from both North and South I either make buttermilk or these now...


I love making cream biscuits - my recipe calls for a baking mix (like bisquick) instead of flour. I'll try it with flour next time.


It's in the oven now. Used regular flour and added 1T baking powder and 1t salt. Turned out great. Mum says they're wonderful.


I tried these last week and they are so yummy!
They are now on my family's "make'm for us list"!

Alterations


Hey JK....I added grated orange zest w/ tablespoon
of the orange juice and then made an grated orange glaze...it's so good.... a semi.sweet orange biscuit... just as good... if not better than my orange blossom cookies!!!
