cheese and onion pastries - Borek

- 1 pack phyllo pastry shopping list
- 1cup feta cheese, crumbled shopping list
- 2 fresh green onion, finely chopped shopping list
- handful of parsley or dill, chopped shopping list
- 1 egg yolk shopping list
- 1 egg white shopping list
- 1/2 cup veg oil shopping list
How to make it
- Mix the filling ingredients in a medium sized bowl.
- Put the egg white in a small bowl to stick the edge of the borek and leave aside.
- Place the three sheets of pastry on top of each other on the counter with the long side front of you.
- Cut in 4 equal strips from top to bottom
- do the same to the other 3 sheets
- Now you should have 24 long pieces of phyllo pastry.
- Put one teaspoonful filling on the bottom end of each sheet.
- First fold it diagonally to form a triangle.
- Continue to fold borek up to the top.
- brush the egg white on the open end of the last fold and close it up.
- Finish all the sheets.
- Heat up the sunflower oil on the stove in a frying pan.
- Fry each borek equally over medium heat until they take a light golden colour.
- Don't turn your back, they fry quickly and may burn:{
- drain on kitchen towel
- Serve Borek while they are still warm as an appetizer or with Turkish Tea as a snack.
- Phyllo Pastry may dry while you're folding them - cover with a clean towel while you fold the rest.
