- 3 teaspoons yeast shopping list
- 1/4 Cup warm water shopping list
- 1/4 dark molasses shopping list
- 1-1/2 teaspoons salt shopping list
- 4 teaspoons instant coffee shopping list
- 2 Tablespoons butter,softened shopping list
- 1 Cup hot water shopping list
- 1-1/2 Cup flour shopping list
- 1-1/3 Cup whole wheat flour shopping list
- 1-1/3 Cup rye flour shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed(I add a tiny bit more,maybe a pinch) shopping list
How to make it
- Soften yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.
- In large bowl combine molasses,salt,instant coffee and butter.
- Add hot water and stir until molasses and coffee is dissolved.
- Cool to lukewarm.
- Stir in rye and whole wheat flour,beat well.
- Add softened yeast and fennel seed,mix well.
- Stir in enough all purpose flour to make a soft dough.
- Cover and let rest about 10 minutes.
- Knead...Kneading bread dough always seemed therapeutic to the soul.
- Knead the dough on floured surface till smooth and satiny(about 10 mintutes).
- Place dough in a lightly greased bowl,turn to grease surface.
- Cover and let rise in warm place till double in size.
- Punch down.
- Divide in two portions,place in greased loaf pans.
- Cover and let rise in warm place until double in size.
- Remove cover.
- Bake in hot oven at 375 degress for about 30 to 35 minutes.
- If you llike a soft crust,brush with butter.
- The Aroma of fresh baked bread and the pure pleasure of that first bite...Heaven!!
