How to make it

  • Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees
  • Coat 13x9 inch baking pan with non-stick spray
  • Place beef & onion into a large skillet, breaking up the meat & cook over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink & the onion is softened. - about 15 mins
  • Drain fat
  • Add the tomato sauce & paste, water, 1 tsp of the oregano, salt, rosemary & pepper
  • Bring to a boil & then reduce to med/low heat, cover, stirring occasionally, for about 15 mins or until well blended & slightly thickened
  • Transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese over the beef mixture
  • Spoon the mixed vegetables over the cheese
  • Top with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • Separate the dinner rolls & cut each in half horizontally to make 16 halves
  • Arrange over the cheese
  • In a small cup, beat together the egg white & the 2 tsps water & brush over the rolls
  • Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 tsp of oregano
  • Bake for 20 mins or until the rolls are golden brown
  • Serve sprinkled with the parmesan cheese if using
