Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons baking cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • BROWN SUGAR FROSTING:
  • 1/4 Cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1-3/4 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

Directions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa and baking soda.
  2. Add water, mayonnaise and vanilla; beat at medium speed until thoroughtly combined.
  3. Pour into a greased 9-inch. square or 11-in. x 7-in. x 2-in. baking pan.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until cake tests done.
  5. Cool completely.
  6. For frosting, melt butter in a saucepan.
  7. Stir in brown sugar; cook and stir until bubbly.
  8. Remove from the heat and stir in milk.
  9. Gradually add confectioners' sugar; beat by hand until frosting is of spreading consistency.
  10. Immediately frost cake.
  11. Yield: 9-12 servings.
  12. Editor's Note: Light or low-fat mayonnaise should not be substituted for regular mayonnaise in this recipe.

Hi blueeyes68k thank you for the request i would love to be your cooking buddy, i haven't submitted any recipes lately but i plan on getting on it within the week,the chocolate cake recipe looks yummy and i bet it is really moist,i have looked through the taste of home magazine and they have wonderful looking dishes anyway thanks again and take care, chell chell

This cake is so good & moist. I couldn't believe when I had it for the first time that mayo was in it. It is yummy!!
