Chocolate Buttermilk Bread

- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 3/4 cups flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup unsweetneded cocoa powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp.baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp.baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp.salt shopping list
- 1/3 cup pecans,chopped (optional) shopping list
- Glaze: shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter shopping list
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder shopping list
- 5 tbls.milk shopping list
- 1 tsp.vanilla shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans shopping list
- 16 ounces,powdered sugar shopping list
- I find this bread so rich I never glaze it but am adding it anyways. shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350.Grease only the bottom of a 9X5 loaf pan.
- In a large bowl,cream ogether butter aand sugar until light and fluffy.Beat in the eggs,one at a time,then stir in buttermilk.
- Combine the flour,1/2 cup cocoa,baking powder and soda and salt;stir into the buttermilk mixture until moistened.
- Mix in nuts if using.
- Pour into prepared pan.
- Bake for 55-65 minutes in peheated oven,until a toothpick inserted,comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 15 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Combine glaze ingredients;
- The butter,1/4 cup cocoa,and milk in a saucepan over medium heat.Cook,stirring until melted and smooth.remove from heat and mix in the vanilla and powdered sugar.Stir in remaining nuts.Spread on top of cooled loaf.
