Sweet And Spicy Beer Bread Recipe

Sweet And Spicy Beer Bread Recipe
Someone gave me some terrible (IMO) but expensive (looking) imported beer that tasted like cloves (not a fav of mine), so I got a bit creative (IMO)

Ingredients
  • 3 cups self rising flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening (I used liquid margarine)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (I used brown once and white once, no real major difference)
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1 t. ginger
  • 1 t. allspice
  • 1/2 t. nutmeg
  • 1 12-ounce bottle beer-the one I used was a Bavarian Ale that tasted like cloves.....

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 F
  2. grease a loaf (9x5 or 9x4) pan (I used liquid margarine)
  3. mix all ingredients quickly (it will be a little lumpy like muffins, that is good)
  4. turn dough/batter into pan, pour more butter over the top if so desired (not really necessary IMO)
  5. bake for 1 hour
  6. excellent with cream cheese

But wait... where's the beer? How much? What kind did you use??

I had one years and years ago. I am old here, that was just beer and self rising flour. Yours sounds very good.

The writer used a CAN OR BOTTLE OF BEER. IT SAYS A 12 OZ .

Love the combo of ingredients and spices going on here. How creative of you to turn beer into a nice bread!

Love this recipe. Great Post! 5 Forks!

Bread is solid beer and beer is liquid bread! I used Monks Cafe Sour Red for a more sourdough taste. This is an awesome recipe!
