How to make it

  • Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
  • In a larg mixing bowl, cream shortening with sugar.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Add molasses and mix well. (TIP- if you coat your measuring cup with some non-stick spray before pouring molasses, it won't stick.)
  • Add flour mixture alternately with milk.
  • Fold in the apples and nuts.
  • DO NOT OVER MIX.
  • Pour mixture into a greased and floured 9x5" loaf pan.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes, depending on your oven.
  • Cool on rack for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from pan and cool completely.
  • Wrap loaf in foil and store overnight before slicing OR help yourself to some right away!

    ooooh soooo healthieeeeeee thanks for sharing - I'd like to try it with spelt flour as wheat isn't very friendly.
