Grandma made this from scratch on the farm,years and years ago.Each time I make it ,I think of her,and how her and Grandad,"Scratched that Red Earth" and made it work.

Ingredients
  • 5-1/2 Cups of Farm Fresh Milk
  • 3 Fresh Farm Eggs
  • 1-1/2 Cups Brown Sugar ,packed down
  • 1/2 Cup White Sugar
  • 3/4 Cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla(she made homemade,when she could)
  • 2 Tablespoons Churned Butter

Directions
  1. Scald the milk in pan.
  2. In bowl,beat the eggs until creamy.
  3. Add your sugars,flour,and 1-1/2 Cups of the scalded milk.
  4. Place in pan with remaining milk.
  5. Cook stirring all the time over medium heat until thick,about 18 minutes or so.
  6. Take from heat,add the vanilla and butter,stir in well.
  7. You will need to keep stirring the mixture about every 6 or 8 minutes until cooled down.
  8. Chill if you like,but we always liked it right after it had cooled down from the stove.
  9. Simple,plain,but pretty darn good~~anyway, I thought so.
