A recipe from Andrea, one of the lifeguards at my YMCA. She says her family has made this for years to rave reviews! I have not tried this as yet but it surely sounds decadent enough for anyone!

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 7 tablespoons cocoa, divided
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups hot water

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Combine 3/4 cup sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. Blend in milk, butter and vanilla.
  4. Beat until smooth.
  5. Pour batter into an 8 OR 9" square baking pan.
  6. Combine remaining sugar, brown sugar and remaining cocoa.
  7. Sprinkle mixture evenly over batter in pan.
  8. Pour water over the top.
  9. DO NOT STIR!
  10. Bake 35 to 40 minutes OR until center is almost set.
  11. Remove from oven.
  12. Allow to sit 15 minutes.
  13. Spoon into dessert dishes being sure to spoon sauce from the bottom of pan over the top.

Yes, this is a wonderful recipe. My Mom made this when we were kids, too (chocolate cake pudding, posted), and it is an all time fave! You can also substitute coffee for the water. And, you will have fudgy pudding as soon as you spoon into the cake! You must try it! LOVE it!!
