Ingredients

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Combine 3/4 cup sugar, flour, 3 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.
  • Blend in milk, butter and vanilla.
  • Beat until smooth.
  • Pour batter into an 8 OR 9" square baking pan.
  • Combine remaining sugar, brown sugar and remaining cocoa.
  • Sprinkle mixture evenly over batter in pan.
  • Pour water over the top.
  • DO NOT STIR!
  • Bake 35 to 40 minutes OR until center is almost set.
  • Remove from oven.
  • Allow to sit 15 minutes.
  • Spoon into dessert dishes being sure to spoon sauce from the bottom of pan over the top.

    yes, this is a wonderful recipe. My Mom made this when we were kids, too (chocolate cake pudding, posted), and it is an all time fave! You can also substitute coffee for the water. And, you will have fudgy pudding as soon as you spoon into the cake! You must try it! LOVE it!!
