How to make it
- Cream shortening with sugar
- add eggs
- sift flour, measure, and sift again with baking powder and salt.
- alternately add flour mixture and milk to shortening mixture, blending well. Stir in nuts and peel. pour in loaf pan and bake at 350 for one hour.
- Combine 1/4 c sugar with 1/4 c lemon juice and pour ovr loaf while hot. cool and remove from pan NOTE: this recipe came to me without the milk in the ingredient list, but in the directions..i just play with the milk till i get the right consistency for a bread batter..
