Beef Cubes Somewhat Stroganoff Recipe
This recipe is from an old Hunts Tomato Sauce Cookbook. I paid $1.89 for the cookbook in 1976. Lots of very nice recipes; some of which I'll post later. This is a tasty way to use round steak.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb top round steak, 1/2 inch thick, 1 inch cubes
  • 3 tb butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp each, paprika and salt
  • 2 small onions, sliced
  • 1 8 oz can Hunts tomato sauce with mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 can sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • Hot buttered noodles
  • 1 tsp dill week

Directions
  1. Cut steak into 1-inch pieces. Brown slowly in butter in 10 inch skillet. Sprinkle with paprika and salt; add onions and cook, stirring, until onions soften and separate into rings. Stir in tomato sauce, water and mushrooms. Cover; simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours until meat is tender. Just before serving, stir in sour cream and dill weed. Serve over hot butttered noodles.

This sounds good good but I dont like shrooms so I saved it and will give it a shot without the shrooms.

It works well without mushrooms binky.


Never tried to unite tomato and stroganoff, rottman, so this is being saved...will have to use fresh mushrooms, though...and I'll add binky's portion to mine! ;)
