How to make it

  • Cut steak into 1-inch pieces. Brown slowly in butter in 10 inch skillet. Sprinkle with paprika and salt; add onions and cook, stirring, until onions soften and separate into rings. Stir in tomato sauce, water and mushrooms. Cover; simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours until meat is tender. Just before serving, stir in sour cream and dill weed. Serve over hot butttered noodles.

I'll see if I can find the recipe for stuffed peppers and post it. My copy is in tatters; the pages are falling out and completely out of order; - because it's such an excellent little book.

Used to make this years' ago. Very tasty and easy to make. I lost the book and recipe and googled it on a lark. Amazed I found it. I prefer it with rice. They also had a good recipe for stuffed peppers that the peppers didn't need to be parboiled. The dish was covered with foil.

Never tried to unite tomato and stroganoff, rottman, so this is being saved...will have to use fresh mushrooms, though...and I'll add binky's portion to mine! ;)

The dill lends a tad of panache to this dish. Thanks, rottman! ^5
