Ingredients

1- 9x13 baking pan or 2 round

11/2 c.banana (ripe) mashed

2 teas. lemon juice

3 c. flour

11/2 teas.baking soda

1/4 teas. salt

3/4 c. butter, softened

21/8 c. sugar

3 lg. eggs

2 teas. vanilla

11/2 c. buttermilk

1/2 c. butter, softened

1 - 8 oz. pkg. of cream cheese , softened

1 teas.vanilla

31/2 c. icing sugar (powder sugar)

GARNISH:

chopped walnuts

Directions

Preheat oven to 275 Degrees

Grease & flour pans

In a small bowl,mix mashed banana with lemon juice; set aside

In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking soda,& salt; set aside

In a large bowl,cream 3/4 c. butter & 21/8 c. sugar until light and fluffy

Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, then stir in 2 teas. vanilla

Beat in the flour mixture alternately with buttermilk

Stir in banana mixture

Pour batter into prepared pans & bake in preheated oven for about 1 hour or until a tooth pick inserted comes out clean

Remove from oven & place directly into freezer for 45 minutes. This will make cake very moist

For the frosting, cream the butter and cream cheese until smooth

Beat in 1 teas. vanilla

Add powder sugar and beat on low speed until combined, then on high speed until frosting is smooth

Spread on cooled cake

Sprinkle with chopped walnuts over top if desired
