How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • In medium bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour and salt.
  • Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Set aside.
  • Place berries in a medium sized baking dish.
  • Sprinkle with sugar.
  • Sprinkle crumb mixture on top.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
  • Serve warm with ice cream.

    Very good. Will make it again. The crust didn't brown any, as I was expecting. Although it did get darker because of the moisture it was adsorbing from the berries. Didn't detract from the flavor. In all fairness, I was shy 1 cup from 4 cups of berries. Sure eyeballed like 4 cups when it was in the bowl.

    Sure doesn't seem like much fluid in this dish to make the crumble crust bind. Maybe there will be enough juice from the berries to pull the dish together. Using fresh picked wild blackberries, only 4 hours off the vine. In the oven now. Result follows.

    Looks yummy, I will give it a try, but blackberries are hard to find or expensive here in florida!
