How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Coat loaf pan with cooking spray and set aside.
  • Warm the oil in a small pan over med. heat.
  • Add the onions and green peppers and saute' until soft, 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Place saute' onions and green peppers in a large bowl ,add the ground round, oats, eggs, tomato sauce, salt and pepper and mix well.
  • Press the mixture into the loaf pan.
  • Bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove the meatloaf from the oven and pour ketchup on top.
  • Return to the oven and cook for another 15 minutes.

    I can't believe it :0 Whenever meatloaf is prepared in my family, we always add oatmeal! I thought it was just us and your recipe is almost exactly the same as ours. This is too much. High 5 on a great meatloaf recipe!

    This sounds really good. I remember my Mamma always using oatmeal with anything she made with ground beef. :o)

    I am going to have to add this to my list for making now recipes. Would you believe that I have printed so many recipes from this group that I now have files labeled for cooking now, cooking soon and holiday cooking? I have been neglecting my cookbooks =D
