Steak And Cheese Filling With A Spicy Twist

- 10oz . shaved beef from the meat counter shopping list
- 1/8 Cup lite/low sodium soy sauce shopping list
- 1/8 Cup worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1/8 Cup white wine (we used Chardonnay) shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. fresh lemon juice shopping list
- 1 clove garlic minced shopping list
- 1/8 tsp grated fresh ginger root shopping list
- 1/2 tsp rice flour mixed with 1/2 tsp water (thickens marinade) shopping list
- canola oil shopping list
- 1/2 yellow onion sliced thinly shopping list
- pich of sugar shopping list
- 1/2 Cup broccoli florettes trimmed and cut very thinly (think shredded lettuce) shopping list
- 5 medium white mushroom caps, sliced shopping list
- 1/2 of a red pepper seeded and sliced into 1/4 in slices shopping list
- 4 TBS. whipped cream cheese shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. minced fresh garlic shopping list
- 1 tsp. minced pepperoncini shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. italian seasoning shopping list
- 4 thin slices cheddar cheese (we used mild slicing Cabot cheddar from the deli) shopping list
How to make it
- Mix first 7 ingredients in a bowl.
- Add beef
- Marinade in refridgerator for 2 hours
- Mix cream cheese, 1/2 tsp garlic, pepperonccini and Italian seasoning and set aside.
- In a mediun skillet over medium heat add TBS. oil. When oil is hot add onions and sugar. Stir to combine. Turn heat down to low and cook 20 minutes stiring frequently until onions are carmelized. Remove from pan and set aside.
- Reheat skillet over medium heat and add 1TBS oil. When oil is hot add red pepper and mushrooms cook 4-5 minutes until tender. Remove from pan and set aside.
- Reheat pan over low heat. Spray pan with Pam (oil spray). Add broccoil to hot pan and cook for about 2 minutes just until soft. Remove from pan.
- Reheat skillet over medium heat add beef and marinade (which should be pretty much soaked up by beef at this point) and saute until browned. About 3 minutes.
- Preheat broiler to 475)
- Slice two sub rolls lenghwise almost through. Spead both sides with cream cheese mixture. Line both sides of rolls with brocolli as you would lettuce. Divide beef between both rolls. Top each with the pepper and mushrooms. Top with carmelized onions. Cover with cheese.
- Put subs on baking sheet and broil till cheese melted and bubbly.
- Serve.
