Instead of spicing the sweet potato as if it were pumpkin, this emphasizes the sweet potato.
May be served warm or at room temperature

I assume the butter is there for the flavor, possibly adding some moisture. I doubt it would taste as good without it, though removing it shouldn't cause any trouble in the baking process. You might, in that case, want to add some extra milk to make up the moisture content.
