How to make it

  • Heat 2 cups of sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium high heat for 25 minutes or until sugar is golden brown. Pour caramelized sugar into a shallow greased glass baking dish, such as a pie plate or ceramic quiche dish.
  • Beat together eggs, sugar, milk and Kahlua until well blended. Slowly pour on to caramelized sugar in dish.
  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Place flan in a larger baking pan and fill half way up the sides with boiling water. Bake flan for 45 to 60 minutes or until custard is set.
  • Chill completely. To serve spoon custard into individual bowls and drizzle with caramel. Garnish with fresh berries and a sprig of mint.
