How to make it

  • Beat shortening and butter until creamy. Gradually add 1 cup sugar, beating well. Add 1/2 cup almonds and orange rind. Beat well.
  • Combine flour and next 5 ingredients in a bowl. Gradually add shortening mixture, beating well.
  • Place dough on lightly floured surface and roll into a 13 1/2-x 12 inch. rectangle. Cut into 3-x1 1/2 inch. rectangles using a pastry wheel or knife. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 for 12-13 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks completely
  • Frosting:
  • Combine powdered sugar, marmalade, and OJ. Stir well. Spread glaze on cookies. Garnish with sliced almonds. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!!!
