Over The Top Shepards Pie

- 2 pounds lean ground chuck shopping list
- 2/3 cup chopped yellow onion shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped celery shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic minced shopping list
- 2 pounds potatoes peeled shopping list
- 4 tablespoon butter shopping list
- 2 carrots sliced shopping list
- 2-1/2 tablespoons beef base shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- 2 tablespoon flour shopping list
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese shopping list
How to make it
- Sauté beef, onion, celery and garlic in a large pan until well done then strain off fat.
- Boil potatoes until fork tender about 20 minutes then drain and mash with butter.
- Blanch carrots and add to beef mixture.
- Make a gravy with beef base and water then whisk in enough flour to thicken.
- When gravy comes to a boil add beef and carrot mixture then reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes.
- Spoon meat mixture into a casserole dish then spoon potatoes on top.
- Bake 20 minutes at 350 then top with cheese and let sit until cheese melts about 5 minutes.

So we used to buy the little shepards pie seasoning packets and like 2 yrs ago they stopped making them, or I just lost my head and can't find them...but anyway...I have been trying to find one that taste similar and this one is by far the best! Soo...more
